In cooperation with the Office of the Vice President (OVP)’s Angat Buhay Program, Manila Water Foundation (MWF) brought 300 units of 5-gallon bottled water to hard-hit Itbayat, Batanes on July 31 after a series of earthquakes hit the area on July 27.

MWF Executive Director Reginald Andal joined Vice President Leni Robredo to Itbayat, Batanes, the hardest-hit area in the province, to talk to the victims of the quake and provide aid. Initial reports said that 911 families were displaced by the quake, who took refuge in camping tents outside of the affected area. Almost 9 deaths and 100 injured were reported from the quake, while several structures, including the Sta. Maria de Mayan Church, residential houses, and schools, were damaged.

Through Agapay, MWF's disaster response program, the Foundation deployed the first 300 units of 1,000 units of 5-gallon bottled water to support affected families in Batanes. MWF hopes that the water relief will help provide hope and comfort to the victims of the quake as they recover from the damages and devastation.
